.Recent periods of heavy rainfall have led to a rise of the White
River.  Minor flooding south of Interstate 70 in western Indiana
will be possible.  Forecast trends have been calling for lower
crests than originally expected.  Flooding at Elliston has been
delayed to this evening, and the crest at Newberry is now expected
to peak at flood stage of 13.0 feet.  Flooding is predicted to end
by Monday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Clarksville.

* WHEN...Until Thursday, May 23.

* IMPACTS...At 27.2 feet, Silo Park just northwest of Clarksville
  off Highway 79 begins flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:30 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 26.4 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 10:30 AM CDT Thursday was 26.5 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 26.8
    feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
    flood stage early Wednesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 25.0 feet.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Missouri...Illinois...

  Mississippi River at Grafton.

  Mississippi River at Winfield.

  Mississippi River at Clarksville.

  Mississippi River at Chester.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Missouri...Illinois...

  Mississippi River at Hannibal.

  Mississippi River at Louisiana.

River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor
this developing situation and issue follow up statements as
conditions change.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Grafton.

* WHEN...Until early Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Water begins flooding the floor at the
  Palisades Marina in Portage Des Sioux.  Access to homes along
  North Shore Drive in eastern St. Charles County becomes cut off
  near this height.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:30 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 20.1 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 10:30 AM CDT Thursday was 20.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Saturday evening and continue falling to 18.7 feet Wednesday
    morning.
  - Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
